Particle rockers and accessories from CleanControlling

The cleanliness quality to be achieved on a finished assembled product depends on various factors which, individually and in combination, have an impact on technical cleanliness. This topic was first taken up in the automotive industry in the early 1990s because residual dirt on individual components was increasingly leading to damage and complaints. Among other things, this affected ABS and direct injection systems in diesel vehicles, which react particularly sensitively to disruptive particles and become susceptible to malfunctions or fail completely if they are too dirty.

For this reason, the VDA Volume 19 - Testing of Technical Cleanliness was published in 2004. Among other things, it defines methods for determining particle contamination on functionally relevant components as a basis for determining technical cleanliness. This particle monitoring, for which particle rockers can also be used, is used to verify the cleanliness of assemblies in assembly or of process environments (logistics, personnel and assembly equipment) and to improve it in a targeted manner by identifying critical particle sources, for example with the aid of particle rockers, and then taking suitable countermeasures.

Particle rockers for large-area determination of particle contamination

Particle rockers are used to determine the degree of particle contamination on large, flat surfaces. These make it possible to pick up particles over a large area with little effort in a rolling motion. For this purpose, particle rockers must be equipped with a particle rocker pad, which can also be ordered online from CleanControlling. After picking up the particles from a flat surface, the particle rocker pad can be easily changed in order to take further samples. Typical areas of application for particle rockers are assembly workstations, roadways, containers and packaging, storage areas and equipment, and, of course, the component itself, provided it offers a sufficiently large surface for a particle rocker pad. If this is not the case, particle rockers, with their round and significantly smaller surface area, enable the particle contamination to be recorded and later analyzed microscopically.

Particle rockers can be used with both white and black particle rocker pads. Black particle rocker pads are used to determine white and light-colored particle contamination, as these are more clearly visible against a dark background due to the higher contrast. The particle rocker pads are then evaluated under a microscope, where the individual particles are measured, classified and quantified either automatically or manually. These analysis results are then usually used to define specific measures for improving technical cleanliness and to test their effectiveness. In addition, the results of the analyses serve as proof that required limit values with regard to the technical cleanliness of components and the technical cleanliness in assembly are achieved and maintained.

Particle rockers and particle rocker pads in white or black can be ordered online from CleanControlling. A microscopic evaluation is not included in the stated sales prices, but if required, you can have this carried out by our test laboratory for technical cleanliness, medical technology and environmental analysis. In this case, simply send us a non-binding inquiry by e-mail and we will provide you with an individual offer.

If you have any questions about particle rockers, other products from our online store or about our laboratory services, we would be pleased to hear from you. To do so, either send us an e-mail at sales@cleancontrolling.de, use our contact form or simply call us at 07465-929 678-0. We will be happy to advise you on all topics of technical cleanliness and support you with our comprehensive know-how in meeting the requirements for technical cleanliness.
